"According to doctors, just touching fentanyl can send you to the emergency room. True or False."

My son said that this is false on his test.

He got it "wrong."

Instantly triggered. I cannot believe this BS is being taught in schools.

Questions about medical bills come up on the ambulance all the time.

Patients say "I can't afford an ambulance bill. The ER is expensive."

"How much will this cost?"

I tell them "oh if you need help don't worry about the money."

But secretly that's not true. Because I worry about the costs too.

These are the most amazing vomit bags. We just ordered hundreds. I love them.

No more awkward dropped buckets of puke when moving patients. They hook around the patient's neck.

Has there ever been an "upgrade" to EMS charting/EHR software that has done any of the following?

* faster
* easier to use
* reduced complexity
* allowed crews to spend less time making an itemized receipt and spend more time doing actual patient care?

No. Never. Every "upgrade" makes it worse.

After the last widely visible aurora event, I realized I'd been misled for years.

It's more a thing you photograph than actually see.

I go to ~100 cardiac arrests/yr. Most don't survive. It gets a very depressing at times.

Our dept made a point to go thru all the 2023 records and issue a "life saver" award for every pt d/c neuro intact.

That was nice. I had 7 from 2023. Helps refocus the work.

Focus on the wins. They happen.
