It’s Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, and Trump’s SNAP lapses are forcing even more families to decide: pay the rent, or put food on the table. As winter approaches we’re continuing the fight to keep poor and working families across our country fed, housed, and healthy.

NHLP’s sr. staff attorney Stacey Tutt warns seniors and homeowners to do their research and not to accept less than their home is worth - especially when predatory corporations lie to make a quick and easy sale. Jill Terreri Ramos spoke with her about these tricky tactics for @nytimes.com

Our sr. staff attorney Stacey Tutt spoke with the @nytimes.com Jill Terreri Ramos about how Trump’s HUD made it easier for lenders, brokers, & landlords to discriminate - including unlawfully singling out potential homebuyers based on their nation of origin, accent, or language.

No matter where we come from or how long we’ve lived here, our country has the $$$ to ensure that all of us have a safe place to call home. But Trump’s HUD wants to tear families apart & worsen the housing crisis. NHLP's Marie Claire Tran-Leung talked to @motherjones.com about their cruel plan.

In the continued assault on poor & working people & the federal housing programs, Trump’s HUD might soon propose taking away housing from millions of ppl who exceed strict time limits or can't meet harsh requirements. Our deputy director Debroah Thope talked to @truthout.org about the consequences.

#OTD in 1965, our government created HUD to help house our nation’s poor and working people, seniors, veterans, & kids. In the following years, HUD was chronically understaffed & underfunded, making it harder to keep folks stably housed.

Trump recently signed an EO that would forcibly institutionalize our unhoused neighbors, and put more people on the streets and in prison. “It is absurd to think that ending people’s right to autonomy will end homelessness,” said NHLP's Noelle Porter to @truthout.org.
