Our communities deserve the basic freedom of safety and stability without fear. But right now Trump is undermining and threatening it. That’s why we’re supporting the Representatives who are fighting to protect democracy and safeguard our freedoms.

The Trump administration’s attempts to cut one of the most important funding sources for housing homeless people is making it impossible for service providers to keep families safe and sheltered. NHLP’s Deputy Director Deb Thorpe spoke about why with Roshan Abraham from @shelterforce.bsky.social.

Trump’s proposal to cut a long-standing disparate impact rule from the Fair Housing Act could open families up to discrimination and keep justice from being served, NHLP Managing Attorney Natalie Maxwell shared with Grace Dixon of @law360.bsky.social.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Chicago Freedom Movement laid the groundwork for today’s Fair Housing Act. His fight for civil rights, racial equity and housing justice will continue until we all have the freedom to care for our families and live in a safe and affordable home.

In the midst of a housing crisis, Trump's HUD proposed eliminating a crucial protection that keeps people housed. As part of the Fair Housing Act, the disparate impact rule stood between our communities, and unfair zoning and biased landlords. We're ready to fight back.

Trump’s proposed investor ban won’t fix the damage he’s already done to worsen the housing crisis, NHLP’s Exec. Director @shamusroller.bsky.social shared w/ @truthout.org. Big investors and empty gestures are both bad news for families already struggling to find and keep a home.
