NHL injury summary through 7 November
Still modest by most season’s standards but the Red Wings have had a healthy game streak of 6, though apparently at risk of ending tonight if Söderblom is out (with a caveat that he’s seemingly been in the healthy/injury scratch mystery zone for several games)

I didn’t do the on-pace number here, so I’d point out that it’s probably understating the projection because the MGL rate isn’t uniform over a typical season (though with the longer Olympic break, that’s not a certainty)
November 20, 2025 at 1:41 PM
Won’t properly update this until the weekend but 109 players missed their team’s most recent game (around the 19-20 game mark for most), so still line go up…

22/23 is one of the other high water marks around this point, so not way out of line with recent history (and with a non-compressed schedule)
NHL injury frequency through each team's first 13 games (and projected to 16 games) compared to the previous 24 seasons

If you ever wondered what day-to-day injury means, it’s quite simply not today and suspect probably not a possibility in two days

8 months on, breaking news this is still not
Breaking news this is not, but Kirby Dach has had a rough go of it in his short career
November 16, 2025 at 5:00 PM
No comment on the severity or prominence of these but worth a reminder that after a 13-game slate, you’d expect around 10 players on average to miss their team’s next game with injury (just don’t usually get a high profile reporter listing them…)
Night of attrition in NHL
Some good news: Charlie McAvoy did travel home with teammates after being hit in jaw by a shot in Montreal
Drew Doughty: Blocked shot with foot. Should know more Sunday, was in a walking boot
Viktor Arvidsson: Scored but will miss some time (lower-body)
Nick Foligno: (1/2)

Full career injury history for Jenner going into this season

195 games missed over 12 seasons

I *think* the last time the Lightning had as many as 7 players miss a game injured/ill - that wasn’t a final regular season game resting situation or a Covid game - was Game 42 of the 16/17 season (Bishop, Boyle, Brown, Callahan, Coburn, Point, Stamkos)
Tonight’s #GoBolts lines in warmups via my good friend and coworker Gabby Shirley:

Girgensons - Point - Kucherov
Guentzel - Katchouk - Goncalves
Bjorkstrand - Gourde - Pelletier
Douglas - Finley - Sabourin

Moser - Raddysh
D’Astous - Cernak
Lilleberg - Crozier

Such a quiet day for injury news out of the usual places makes it as good a time as any to say that there will be no numbers/charts update from me this week, as I *watch the games* and stuff

Not a deep dive at all but stable lineups at any position look to be pretty thin on the ground across the league, given every team has had at least one injury at forward and only three have been clean on defense (DET, LAK, STL)

Kyle Burroughs now out of the Kings' core numbers as he was sent down when healthy (though very much a bubble case)
