NHL injury summary through 7 November
Such a quiet day for injury news out of the usual places makes it as good a time as any to say that there will be no numbers/charts update from me this week, as I *watch the games* and stuff

Not a deep dive at all but stable lineups at any position look to be pretty thin on the ground across the league, given every team has had at least one injury at forward and only three have been clean on defense (DET, LAK, STL)

Kyle Burroughs now out of the Kings' core numbers as he was sent down when healthy (though very much a bubble case)

The first tentative sighting of “all the injuries, it’s the condensed schedule”

There have been 216 games through 30 days (13.6 per team), compared to 204 (12.8) over the first 30 days last year (ignoring the two early Prague games)

Sceptical that can have much impact in a single month

Getting ahead of any “Penguins lead the league in MGL every year” guff, which is at least a few years out of date even if not intended literally
November 6, 2025 at 12:33 PM
Three more of these from the Penguins today. Still not something that they have tended to say before now, nor something any other team routinely does.
Interesting (perhaps to me only) that this is the third time in quick succession the Penguins have said a player is out for a minimum length of time, which is unusual.

In unrelated thoughts, very much not unusual for “willingly less competitive” teams to become more cautious with injury timelines.
Jack St. Ivany will be out at least six weeks with a lower-body injury, per #Pens PR.
