Let me tell ya: one of the best parts of the new printed Newsberg paper is hand delivering them around town. Sure it takes some time, and sometimes you’re roped into long chats. But the community connection is just…awesome.

This part in particular is…insane. Pretending like already strapped reporters can do any meaningful reporting if they’re forced to publish two to three stories per day?

It’s just going to be a click bait outlet with no substance. Really unfortunate.

Some days running a business means arts and crafts time and those days are usually the best days.

Sometimes you get a wild hair to make something and weirdly you’ve got a bit of bandwidth to get it done.

Stoked about these little Newsberg info zines!

Shout out @klaszus.bsky.social leading the way on the news zine game.

This job is stinking cool and I’m always reminded of that. Today I got to head out to a horse rescue/rehab and spend some time in the field learning about a few passionate people who work to give neglected horses a new home. Absolutely recharged when I get into the field.

Got some film scans and really like this one. Call me a sucker, but I love me a Camellia photo.

Oregon state legislature is currently discussing senate bill 686, which would require some tech platforms to pay news outlets in Oregon. Senator Pham is leading the charge.

From a New York Times article in 2010, which I just learned galvanized locals to get involved and work to improve the town. Crazy what one published line can do to an entire community.

I’m looking forward to the day where the general public realizes this and decides to turn away from the algorithms completely. We’d be better off.

Being in community media means sometimes you get to document some really heartwarming things.

Several woman-owned downtown business owners reached out to see if I’d take photos for #internationalwomensday.

Warmed my heart to see all these awesome community pillars come together in celebration 💗

Pretty cool to come back to @uosojc.bsky.social to talk community journalism. Super excited they’re putting some emphasis on community journalism and its importance in the current landscape.

My current read is Fire at Eden’s Gate (from the Newberg Public Library of course). An absolutely fascinating biography about former Oregon Governor Tom McCall. If you are an Oregonian looking to understand more about our state, I could not recommend it more.
