Lovely, aching stream of consciousness from @aaronburch.bsky.social. Come for the comparison of tree felling and story writing, stay for the musings on loss caused by little more than the passing of time.
wrote a long single-sentence essay about watching my neighbor's tree get taken down, a kind sequel to this long single-sentence essay from 6 (!!) years ago about watching a tree in the UofM diag get taken down

Proud to reside in the same state as these brave journalists! Per usual, redirecting the spotlight to progressive policies that work, and the impediments to those efforts' deserved success.
People aren’t talking enough about how Baltimore and Mayor Brandon Scott have drastically lowered homicides/shootings with the “woke” policies Republicans love to disparage.

As a public health issue, not as a way to enrich private prison friends.

Do you write? Then you’re a writer. I don’t care if you’re trad published, self published, or not at all published. If you write - you’re a writer. There’s no officiant or badge to collect. You write - you’re a writer. So stop waiting for someone to declare you one. I just did. There you go.

As Editor, I try to call each new award winner to personally give them the great news. About half ask if they can send me an updated version of the piece. (NOTE: These are writers whose works have beat out hundreds to win first place in our contest)
As with good parenting, the work is never done.
If you ever read your past published work and it makes your teeth feel like soap, don't sweat it. Your past work is good. Your teeth are fine. Nobody noticed how many times you used the word "secluded"
