A reflection of how hard it is to make up ground in the NHL:

On Dec. 17, the Canadiens were 3 points behind the Atlantic-leading Detroit Red Wings with 2 games in hand.

They have gone 5-0-2 since.

On Jan. 1, the Canadiens are 2 points behind the Atlantic-leading Red Wings with 2 games in hand.

Habs had only two shots in the last 16 minutes of the first. Don't understand why they're losing.

If I had a vote, I would have put Stamkos on the Olympic team for Canada. The guy has 600 goals and never been on the Olympic team. Let him play a game or two, just to get the experience.

Weird stat that probably everyone knows that I just found out:

Sam Montembeault is the only Quebec-born goalie to play an NHL game so far this season. Last year, six played at least one game.

Not sure if there's ever been a season where only one Quebec-born player tended net.

Danault a healthy scratch already.

Habs on pace for 15 shots. This is the most frustrating thing about this team. Many nights, the Habs need to score on at least 25 per cent of their shits to have any hope of winning, simply because they don't put enough pucks on net.

Habs strategy seems to be to score in 25 per cent of their shots. Not a great strategy.

Everyone seems to be talking about Gallagher and how his three power-play points aren't enough to keep him on the second unit. But no one is talking about how Dobson is even worse with only two points on the second unit.

Replace Dobson with Matheson on that second unit, or go with 3F-2D.

Saw House of Dynamite last night. Wow, that was not a good movie. Repetitive with a disappointing ending.

The Habs could have a breakaway with an open net, and choose to pass.
December 4, 2025 at 3:32 AM
How did the Habs lose? I mean, they averaged seven shots per period. That's not enough?

Love Mike Matheson. Excited that he's staying with the Habs. He does whatever is asked of him. Need to be the top PP guy for a year until Hutson is ready? Sure. Top PK guy? Why not. Leader? No worries.

Now 19 in his last 12.
Panarin had seven points in his first 14 games (and four of those points from one game).

He now has 16 in his last 12.

Make this make sense for GGPoker:

Another day, another weird tournament with GGPoker. Dude who won the tournament was all-in against me three times, I was favoured in all three, the guy won all four of them, and eventually won the tournament by calling a double allin with 53 offsuit.

We can add Jacobs to my list of injured players.

The Habs should look at other power plays to see what works. Last night, Pastramak is consistently moving with the man advantage. It shifts the defence around and helps get shots.

The Habs are generally pretty stagnant.

I'm sorry, but if you can barely get a shot on multiple 5-on-3 powerplays, you don't deserve to win a hockey game.
November 16, 2025 at 1:53 AM
Yes, it makes sense to take your top power-play goal scorer off multiple long-term 5-on3s.
November 16, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Put Matheson on the 5 on 3. At least we know he'll shoot the puck.
November 16, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Why mix up the PP for 5 on 3 and put Dobson out there? Maybe this game will show it's not a good idea.

(Note. I'm not blaming Dobson, but it feels like a move for the sake of making a move, and it's not working).

Was playing a GGPoker turbo event. Was at the final table. Four left, chip leader. These were my hands the rest of the way. Hard to win when your best hand is A3 offsuit.
