Past that we have Assets and Liabilities to give your backstory some actual mechanical weight. Assets are positive effects that you have to pay Xp to obtain but give you cool stuff. Liabilities give you more Xp but at the cost of some pretty negative mechanical and/or RP drawbacks

In NAK your class gives you bonuses to the main identity of the Class, and some starting Skill ranks to back that identity up but there's nothing stopping your Cleric from learning how to use a Sniper Rifle, or your ax swinging Berserker getting a PHD in Music Theory. Skills are universal
