Through the Nichiren sect the 'hemorrhoid god' reached a large audience (he remained popular until the development of modern medicines).
In Kyōto 'Shūzan Jiun Reijin' found a home at Enjō-ji (圓成寺), a temple founded in 1630 by Nichinin (日任), 21st abbot of Honman-ji (本満寺).

With YVR, most of my time is spent waiting at the BC regional gate (flights to PG, Kelowna, or, in my case, Victoria), and the Tim's is it. A bit of a downer after flying in from Japan.

It also kind of sucks that it’s usually the only food option (besides a bar) in most Canadian airports beyond the gate. Although I did have an incredible burrito recently in Calgary airport.

Arriving in Jamaica from JFK, it is bizarre that the first thing you see is a giant Tim Hortons kiosk.

I don’t know how people find time to watch all those streaming shows though.

I've noticed it's getting harder to freelance in the US for Canadians. One former client said his new company requires all contributors to be incorporated in the US. Wyoming offers a cheap(er) option, but it's a major hurdle. A current employer, a university, now wants US liability insurance.

As a sole proprietor working with US clients, this has been a challenge for me, too. Although in BC I do believe I have a provincial business number, as well as a federal GST number. Brex and Gusto have been pretty seamless.

Mentioned in the comments of the article is Yates Street Market, founded by former Thrifty’s employees from when it was a beloved independent. Its niche I think it singles living nearby, with a lot of prepared and specialty foods. A good place to find quality tinned sardines.

Solstice is just over a month away (although the sun won’t start rising earlier until the first week of January). I live in Victoria and can’t handle winter. Not sure what I’d do in Montreal. Going to San Francisco last February was real nice.

One other thing comes to mind -- the Nordics are generally less economically stratified than Canada. More social cohesion. I think the income divide, centered around RE and intergenerational wealth, that has developed here over the past 20 years makes it more difficult to consider a common goal.
