Its not. Solar helps only from energy standpoint. Its not habitat. Trees are still our best chance at reversing co2 levels. Forests, esp. old growth forests, are best at trapping and removing co2 from the system. Climate change isn’t our only challenge. Habitat destruction is an even bigger issue.

I don’t have any issues with farmland being used for solar. So much better than using farmland for ethanol production. Farmland is basically habitat already destroyed. But why include destruction of forest conservation areas? That’s really misguided.

The legislation about solar installations allows it to happen on forest conservation areas. That is not something to be celebrated. It allows farmland to be used for solar installations and that is great but people are up in arms about it because they think farmland is pristine. It is not. Mixed bag

It’s not that people don’t read or hear other viewpoints. They just don’t want to accept a viewpoint that doesn’t ’make sense’ to them and instead double down on such views when uttered by those they believe to be their heroes. That’s the issue here. Where are the heroes thattalk about inclusivity.

Great! So they’re just both-sidesing this issue now.

Even bird safe glass does not completely eliminate the problem but we cannot eliminate windows entirely. So there’s a compromise here.
December 13, 2024 at 11:30 PM
Naah. That’s not true. They replaced the reflective glass at the Javits center with bird safe glass and that’s what reduced bird collisions by almost 90%. Birds don’t understand reflections. If the sky or tree is reflected, they think it’s the real thing. All glass, reflective or not is a problem.

This will probably be a nightmare for birds who can’t seem to tell the difference between reflections and the real thing. Architects love glass as an architectural material and love playing with reflections. Clients like glass too. It feels expensive. But it all comes with a price.

and these typically have drive thru's which takes up even more space along with parking.

A typical one acre (43560sf)'pad site' will host just a 2000sf McDonalds.

REI ‘s Rainier rain jacket with their Gore-Tex alt coating is pretty awesome and perfect for warm rainy days.

I regularly used to sit in these areas too, especially when the trains are delayed or I'm tired. The seating within the gate areas are untouched though and you won't be as disconnected as the seating at the old Uniqlo space. Now, if that's enough seating or not is another question.

I wondering if the nomination tanked because there isn’t a lot of love for Gaetz in Congress and not because of what he has done.
