RIP Taylor Swift. You would hate Taylor Swift.

It’s embarrassing. I don’t think it’s cute that she spends all her time baking bread. The narrative that she doesn’t even have social media on her phone or even possibly internet is ridiculous. This administration is killing people and she’s perfecting her fucking sourdough starter. Give me a break.

She’s already had the highest grossing tour and broken records for literally everything. I would argue that a good majority of her fans would continue to support her if she spoke out because she’s done it before. Taylor has been untouchable for decades.

All that to say, the current president that she spoke out against so fervently half a decade ago has used her recent single in a propaganda video on TikTok of all places and she’s said nothing. The most litigious artist is silent. What purpose does this serve?

She made it abundantly clear that she in no way aligned herself with those ideals. It was fairly obvious in her lyrics as well. The queer allegations aside, she’s been known as an albeit fairly white liberal ally. Not the most progressive, but a far cry from bigotry.

It was absolutely understandable when there were threats against her while she was on tour. She had already made her affiliations fairly well known. Accusing her of being even remotely right wing would have been laughable.

Dog whistles notwithstanding, her refusal to even post about her alleged strong political beliefs is appalling. It’s not a good look! Five years ago she was in tears for her documentary, but the second she hooks up with Mr. Football, she no longer cares.

The #1 way to explain America working properly is by saying “comedians can make fun of he President on TV.” A good way to explain fascism is “the President forces companies to fire those comedians as a condition of allowing them to conduct business.”
