Academia is brutally competitive and toxic, and I got worn down by how many of the people succeeding around me did so by stepping on the potential success of others. Couple that with the complete lack of job security until I'm almost 50 and the insane responsibilities placed on profs and no thx bai.

Not sure where you are located but if you have a local game shop try going in an asking them about cooperative games they might stock! They'll know what they have and quite often will know of other options that they may not stock as well.
