In mice, MCH11 reduced alcohol intake and anxiety during withdrawal without impairing motor or cognitive function.
Results also reveal sex-dependent differences: males respond to low/medium doses, while females require higher doses for comparable effects.
November 11, 2025 at 10:18 AM
Researchers at NeuroAlc have shown that MCH11 targets the endocannabinoid system, increasing 2-AG levels in the brain and restoring circuits involved in motivation, stress, and reward, reducing alcohol intake and withdrawal-related anxiety in mice.

The superior colliculus acts as a biological radar: it receives direct retinal input and, before information reaches cortex, selects the most relevant stimuli. When something moves, flashes or appears, it is the first to respond and orient our gaze.

Using patterned optogenetics, electrophysiology and computational modelling, the team shows that the superior colliculus generates center–surround interactions, a key computation that enhances contrast and visual saliency.
➡️ In short: this ancient structure selects what matters.

The study provides a new understanding of how corneal nerve endings work.
It identifies P2X3 ion channels as the main route through which DENAQ enters sensory fibers. A novel finding that could guide future drug design!

Researchers used guinea pig and rat models to test whether DENAQ could act as a “chemical light switch.” The results show that under blue light, DENAQ restores nerve activity to healthy levels, even in dry eye conditions.
