ProtonDB says that Time Stranger runs fine on Linux in current year

It's nice that Steam will refund no questions asked, but it sucks that it's on Valve and not the publisher.
On that note, it may not be such a bad idea to allow (at least a partial) refund when the publisher changes the EULA

The era of playground rumors is kind of over. :/

I had it preordered for two years before Amazon canceled it in 2020 because I didn't think to update the payment information.

But now it's finally coming, and Amazon can't hold me back.

I mean, there's gaming off of vibes and there's wasting my time. I was very prepared for a chill time sink, but it felt like it was more often just tedious menu navigation and mashing A to get through dialogue that I'd already seen several dozen times before.

Bro same. Fuecoco IS the only Gen 9 mon on my list.
He is also the best starter since Oshawott. Funny how that works out.

Funny you say that. XP was the OS that turned me into a power user.
I'd used windows on Family and Library computers before, the first computer that was truly my own ran Windows XP. I loved that machine.

Believe me, if Windows made an OS like XP I'd jump on it yesterday.

Most major Distros work well with Plasma, but if you want to avoid using the terminal then it's easiest to do a fresh install. Fedora KDE Desktop, Debian, and Kubuntu are all popular, so it shouldn't be too hard to troubleshoot any potential issues.

TBH, I feel like the Desktop Environment is the most important thing for casual use cases. When I switched off of Windows 10, I found KDE Plasma to be much more attractive than Cinnamon, which is what Mint ships with.

The flashiest PC Game Launcher I can think of is Pegasus, but I'm not sure it's quite what you're looking for.

My solution to that is usually just to go in Winetricks and start installing a ton of Windows components. My Default wine prefix has so much stuff shoved into it, but it usually works

The "better" method is probably to launch it with wine in the terminal and google each error, but... it works now

IIRC, Microsoft designed their controller after Sega's, since Sega was on its way out when Dwayne Johnson showed off the Microsoft Box. Cool motive, still not quite my tempo.

Yeah I don't post much, so it takes a while for Posts to sink.

So what I meant by the Nintendo Comment is that Xbox has their ABXY in a different format from Nintendo. I usually play with Nintendo/playstation Glyphs, so using the Xbox style trips me up pretty badly.

I'm just some guy who chimes in on the Linux/Trek feeds sometimes
I know I can be a bit negative about things sometimes, but I am trying to work on coming across more positively.

Hey
It's all right, guy.
I'm sure you don't mean to be aggressive, but I want to make sure we're chill.

This isn't Twitter or X, and I don't want it to be.
No need to fixate on the minutia
No need to go looking in my page for old posts to argue about.

Woah there
Of course I believe it's Ethical to Pirate Nintendo games. Do I really come across as a corporate bootlicker? 😢

I dunno. I like tweets as a descriptor for these kinds of short posts. It works as a sort of genericized term like Kleenex or Tupperware - Especially since Twitter Tweets are a relic of the past and nobody claims the term anymore.
I've always found "posts" to be a bit less specific than I'd like.

Wow that is not my distro. Where did I put my pitchfork
July 25, 2025 at 11:14 PM
It kind of does? There's the Discover Feed, plus any number of custom feeds that are run by users that employ whatever sort of algorithm they like.
Usually it's just "watch out for key words and display tweets from newest to oldest" though

Yeah I learned pretty quickly* to wait a couple weeks before updating Nvidia.

*I lost access to my desktop environment twice and did not, in fact, learn to wait for the hotfixes until at least a year after my suffering began

Besides Linux, you can use Windows 10 LTSC and keep getting security updates for a few more years.
July 21, 2025 at 12:10 AM
We're a long ways away from Windows 7.
:(

Yeah, unfortunately lack of Linux CSP is a common pain point for (formerly) Windows artists.
There are ways to get it to run, but it's a big pain to get it set up and at the end of it all, the load times aren't good.

Honestly, running it in a Windows VM might be the most painless method
