I think it’s not so much about suppressing emotions so much as it is the virus having control and having access to all the memories. Like how an AI has access to the whole internet, but can’t tell you its favourite colour.

I don’t believe so. They explicitly said they would allow one of the other people to kill an animal and they would prepare it. They also told Carol that they cannot protect her from the other individuals. Death is permitted, but they cannot intentionally cause it.

I have a kid in kindergarten, so I’ve just accepted I’m going to be sick a lot this school year. I came down with something last week and have been staying home, but if I need to go out, I’ll wear a mask. Like, I have a bunch, so I might as well.

I wanna call things like this “inevitable incompetence” The idea that the “smarter” things get, the dumber they become. Like, “let’s make this process worse in every way because profit.” We’re heading towards Idiocracy IRL.
