Call me Synthnerd
@nerdysynthdude.bsky.social
Self-taught electronics boffin, synthesizer wrangler at Skald Modular, ex-writer, ex-medievalist, sometime photographer. When I'm not making things go boop in the night, I'm trying to be some moss on a tree or mulch or something. & Neurospicy.
Giving my old Phonic PMC-12 mixer a once over. Got this in the early 90s and it's bulky and heavy compared to new gear, but it's a breeze to get into for repairs and still works. Several old mixers have attracted some kind of fashionable reputation, but not these.

Pottering along with some old 486 repairs. New RTC and some trace fixes this time. I'm not too familiar with computer repair so this is an education.

14 years of excellent service but now beyond economic repair, not least because Firewire is about 85 years out of date. Time for a change. Which annoyingly means finding a shit load of money. Sigh.

Any #mycology fans here? I'm new to this and haven't been able to ID these two. The first two pics are a #mushroom found in a deciduous woodland clearing, the third is a little cluster half eaten by beasties in my garden (both northern UK).

Having all these different mushrooms on my garden makes me way more excited than literally anything else in my life rn tbh.

For anyone interested, this is what the inside of a mk. 2 ARP Odyssey looks like.

I don't post much, I know, but I'm currently fighting this thing and needed to share.

So I sat cross legged on the floor to program my D-50 and apparently that was a bad idea and I must live on the floor now for all time.

Went out, found a massive bracket fungus. 10/10, no notes.

Freshly fixed Juno 6, using two of my custom drop in boards to replace the original unobtanium BA662 VCA and IR3R01 envelope chips. I had to go through-hole on the envelope because the SMT part that took me two months to get turned up faulty. The smaller version fits the footprint of the original.

Going for a soothing walk, I may be some time.

Then back to this OB-8 I refurbished most of a couple of years ago, but my health crashed and I shoved it on the Pile of Shame. Time to pick it up again. Wish me luck...

Breadboarding a custom replacement for the old and rare Roland IR3R01 envelope generator IC. Good job I enjoy this stuff.
