Gen-X spinster, currently dogless in PDX. Nerderies include: cheese, cooking, sci-fi, fantasy, books, cello, chorus. Probably leftish? Definitely antifa. Was Princess Ardala on the bird app. She/her.
Where’d he get a copy of the official Handbook? It’s been out of stock at Powells for months.

Also started with books because he was able to use the metadata from the Library of Congress. So taxpayer funded as well.

When I was 14 my mom would send me to the store with a list, a signed blank check, & instructions to write it for $10 over so she could have cash for gas or whatever. Nobody blinked.

This is the WORST! The 2nd worst is trying a recipe that requires 7 different pots/pans/bowls, 3 different techniques & complicated cooking directions & results in a bland, boring meal. There is no roast chicken recipe that makes a tastier bird than a grocery store rotisserie.

… sit next to the power reclining loveseat, like the repetitive drone of a Phillip Glass piece come to life.

My credit union very kindly can print off like 10 checks at a time, so I don't have to spend stupid money on whole checkbooks when I only need 6 or so a year.

If I drink my sugar, it gives me immediate digestive repercussions. I can usually handle something with a bit of protein, like a milkshake or thai tea, but soda & fruit juice go terrifyingly through me. Just bought some of the diet 7up Shirley Temple, may pick up the cranberry spindrift at Costco.

I’m not saying that the destruction of the ACA is good. I know plenty of gig workers & freelancers this will devastate & eventually it will hit everyone. But also it’s no worse than people starving or freezing. Everything sucks. Place the blame where it belongs.

Most of us out here privileged enough to be talking optics. I have heard no ppl on SNAP. Every choice was shit. The responsibility lies squarely in the R’s laps, the assholes who elected them & the folks who didn’t vote for the smart lady.

Anecdata - I have lived with my BFF for 20 years & we just bought a house. While I feel the 900sf w/guest potty is both too small & excessive, finding a house that wasn’t giant bedroom + tiny child rooms was impossible. As more non-partners cohabitate, dual main suites may get more popular.

I think that number is missing a decimal.

Don't you know? The Base is the same as The Default, as in The Default human is the white man.

No republican has any idea what the word “tariff” means. Just say “fee” or “bribe”.

Not sure when Social Media became English Lit 101 with required reading. I don't HAVE to listen to AI pros or cons. Nothing is mandatory. If I'm just on social media for casserole recipes & pet pics & medieval illuminations of nuns harvesting dicks off trees that's my business.

When I first got my T2 dx, I went on an extremely restrictive (& unpleasant) diet & lost a significant amount of weight. My A1C did not budge. Metformin worked great to control it until it didn't. Metabolisms are weird.
November 3, 2025 at 8:56 PM
I am on a GLP-1. I have not lost weight, but my A1C is slowly getting back to "pre-diabetic" status. I worry that at some point a side-effect is going to be discovered that is less detrimental than my lowered A1C, but worse than weight gain, & this class of drug will disappear.

"But your feed will be an ECHO CHAMBER". Bitch, my house is an echo chamber. I don't need to invite some asshole into my living room to explain why the Plagiarism Inaccuracy Machine is good ackshully. Show me a puppy or the last SF/F book by a woman you've read or GTFO.
