This stuff with Ruby Central is just absurd. I don't know how many more examples of this type of thing we're going to need before software organizations, particularly open source, understand how important trust is. I'd wager the folks at Unity, or Redis, or heck even Bartender

The only upside of these tariffs is that white gen z guys won't be able to afford podcasting equipment.

Seems like a long shot but I gotta imagine Vance et al are at least considering it.

Of course Vance sucks but he’s at least not insanely obsessed with Tariffs and understands how trade works.

Other option would just be Congress taking power to levy tariffs back.

Been on Plex death watch for so long now. Usually these types of UI overalls are cover for a bunch of awful new monetization "features", so we'll see what happens. No one cares about the social features, not sure why keep pushing that.

Maybe too nuanced but I think Trump's tariffs should be compared to central planning of communist regimes. USSR failed because govt, and not the people/markets, directed business. Tariffs are similar.

If you made prosthetics that broke easily, but then claimed "well human bones break all the time" people would think you're an idiot and that your product sucks. This is how AI people sound to me when they say "well humans lie all the time!"

Harris Teeter fucks up their subs in ways that makes them inedible - for instance randomly selecting one ingredient that will make up the majority of the sandwich. Like a pound of mayo or enough lettuce to feed a petting zoo. Publix fucks up by giving you a whole sub instead of a half.

In hospital recovering from surgery. “Ok can we get you anything?” “Literally anything to eat, I had to fast for the surgery and haven’t eaten since yesterday” “you got it” repeat this conversation six times over the next five hours. latex gloves are starting to look like a box of fruit rollups

Trump, Elon, GOP are definitely going to fuck stuff up so much that Dems are able to run back the same playbook in 2026 midterms, win back a slim majority in the house. Then DNC won't change leadership, strategy etc and will keep getting destroyed in future elections.

I really like most everything IKEA does and think people that hate on their instructions are wrong. But the entire experience of purchasing a bathroom vanity is pretty bad.

The core game play loop in Anno 1800 is endlessly fun but also very silly once you zoom out a bit. Give the farmers fish, clothes, schnaps, and a pub? You can have workers! Give the workers that stuff plus sausages, bread, soap (hmm), school, church and beer? You can have artisans!

It is incredible to me how big of a piece of shit the Ubisoft Connect application is. It is incapable of staying logged in. It constantly fails to "activate" Anno 1800 until I restart my computer. The cloud save functionality for Anno has never worked correctly.

One of the failures of news regarding these tariffs - every single article should point out that a) Trump is violating his own trade deal and b) he’s literally imposed tariffs and then immediately rescinded them them like a dozen times.
