I was happy to come out with a 2-1 after a slightly messy draft amongst a tough pod (which also meant I ended in the money!). The rest of the group was:

Asha 1-2 UGr
@banjocaveman.bsky.social 1-2 WR
Ginky 0-3 UGwb
@edgarmtg.bsky.social 3-0 URb

Best of luck to all the Canadians at Worlds!

SB -Deadly Precision
+Cat-Owl

Game 3 again started with Mai, then a Water Tribe Captain. My start was Fortune Tellers into Messenger Hawk, and turn 5 when I blocked his Mai and he pumped I had the Azula Always Lies. From there things stayed safe and I wrapped up the 2-1.

+Ruinous Waterbending

Game 2 Liam also led on Mai, and then started popping off with Tolls of War and Joo Dee. He verbally called out the possibility of me having the -2-2 sweeper to flip the board, but I didn't see it in time and we were off to game 3.

R3 vs Liam Kane (WB)

Liam started with Mai into Warship into Joo Dee, but was stuck on 3 lands and thankfully the pressure slowed down. I definitely would have lost if my 3 drop wasn't Spirit Keeper, and an Octopus form to save from Razor Rings gave me enough life to close g1

Game 3 I drew the -2-2, but Anthony's turn 2 play was a Deserters...sigh. Got stuck on 3 land for a few turns and Anthony's procession of 4 mana rares showed up again to take the match.

+Ruinous Waterbending

Game 2 discarded my 2nd island turn 2 to Abandon Attachments, which became awkward later as I ended up with 6 B 1 U. Was treading water until I decided to bend Watery Grasp Hakoda draw step to stop the redraw...and Appa ended the game 🤦‍♂️

R2 vs Anthony Lee (RW)

Game 1 Anthony was stuck on 3 land for multiple turns, and although he started dropping bombs on 4 in the form of Appa and Hakoda, he was too far behind and I took game 1.

SB -Wolfbat
+Pirate Peddlers

I put Dom on the play as we both seemed slow, and game 3 was a repeat of game 1. Once I got my "combo" going it was just a matter of time and I picked up round 1.

SB -Azula Always Lies, Earth Village Ruffians
+Meteor Sword, Wolfbat

Game 2 Dom mulled on the play, but I kept a hand with no Island and drew my U source a turn too late. Almost stabilized, but The Boulder had done early damage, and Bumi closed with Dai Li Agents

R1 vs Dom Harvey UGb

Game 1 was unexciting. The ground got gummed up with an assortment of bodies and I took to the skies. Eventually the fliers picked up the win.

The end result was uninspiring, but I heard lots of murmurs of others at the table with similar concerns. Turns out high level pod drafts you just don't get great decks a lot of the time!

My deck was rareless aside from the land, not a place you want to be with your B decks...
November 27, 2025 at 4:06 AM
The rest of pack 1 was all over the place with a lack of clear signals. A bit of green, a bit of black, a healthy chunk of U and no white cards aside from Suki and Rings. Pack 2 I took an early Submersible and kind of stumbled in to UB mostly because the only free commons were B
November 27, 2025 at 4:06 AM
My p1p1 was Suki, a bomb, but right after pack 2 had no white cards. The choices were River Spirit, Lost Days, Fated Firepower or some green stuff. Ended up taking the Lost Days, and the next pack again had no white and a Spirit Keeper. Took Razor Rings pick 4 thinking maybe UWb
November 27, 2025 at 4:06 AM
7-0 in to top 500 mythic with busted UB. Very spell heavy and wanted some extra blockers so decided to play the Flexible waterbender (again) and Canyon crawler. Maybe the Lost days is enough rectangles that I was still supposed to play second Rivier Spirit, not sure tbh.

This one was pretty lucky to trophy. Deck was ok (had a much better UR deck go 1-3 end of last week) but the instant speed package is powerful if things line up right. Deserter's Disciple and Flexible Waterbender were both overperformers, both separately and especailly together!
November 24, 2025 at 7:53 PM
I will say this trophy took a heck of a lot longer than the Red ones! Merchant of Many Hats was a major overperformer both as a speed bump and an engine with Professor Zei or Agna Qel'a. Also had a couple Prof Zei lethals targeting Ozai's Cruelty, fun deck.

Yet another aggro trophy mostly tells the story of what the format is about. Get on board quick, push the advantage with cheap tricks and removal, profit.

Eventually the tables will stop letting me wheel cadets, until then I expect more red decks.
November 21, 2025 at 11:17 PM
7-1 with another red deck, though I think I was supposed to leave Iroh in the sb here. Was killing before he mattered every game, and discarded him pretty much every time I drew him.
November 21, 2025 at 8:37 PM
Apparently the secret to trophying with UG is not to draft any interaction and try to beat down...

Hard carried by the rares here though, didn't win any games without them. Secret tunnel being the MVP among them
November 20, 2025 at 7:57 PM
The green bite/fight spells have impressed so far. Being able to efficiently deal with things the turn they come down without needing to worry about them attacking has been important. Iroh clutch for a comeback win for the trophy.
November 19, 2025 at 9:54 PM
Tried a few UG decks and can't get them to quite work, and then immediately trophied with this. Might be one of those "we need to wait until week 3 for things to settle down a bit" cases.
November 19, 2025 at 8:04 PM
The table from me to my left ended up as follows:

@edgarmtg.bsky.social UGB 1-2
Anthony RG 2-1
Chun UGW 1-2
Kevin Br 0-3
Liam GW 1-2 (pic missing glider kids)
Dom URw 2-1
Ginky WB 2-1

We'll see if anyone can beat me next week 🙂
November 19, 2025 at 5:23 PM
sb -War Balloon, Ty Lee, Cavalry
+2x Wandering Musicians, Boar-q-pine

Both games 2 and 3 went much better as I drew my Fire Nation Drill and swung the board. Both times he was forced to Swampsnare Trap my Cadets just to stop me from snowballing too hard and I claimed the 3-0.

R3 vs @ginkymtg.bsky.social (WB)

I knew Ginky's deck was full of bears, and mulled on the draw g1 keeping a hand with Mai. He started on Healer, Healer, Musicians and I put my eggs in to one basket by doublestriking Mai. Sold out turn 5 basically ended the game on the spot
November 19, 2025 at 5:23 PM
sb -Cavalry
+Boar

Not sure about siding out the 5/5 vs so many 4 power things but I wanted to reduce my curve on the draw. Worked out well as Cadets, Fire Nation Attacks and War Balloon put me on the front foot, and the threat of fire mana let me close out with Zhao and Ty Lee
