In tenth grade, Brautigan appeared in thin paperbacks on my English Teacher's classroom shelf. Crisp sentences. Poetry was this? I was tenth grade impressed. Remembering fifty years later that my teacher wanted to leave teaching for real estate. I hope you made it out, Mr. Jackson. I did.

Today, my students tell me that I look like someone who never drives a car, that I look like I am someone who takes a train everywhere, and I love that they see me like this, the same way that I love that one day, a student asks me, do you buy your clothes on english teacher dot com?, when the truth is, I would if such a place existed.
