Minecraft’s enchanting system has always been a mix of grinding for XP, rerolling villager trading, and stacking enchantments to get "God Gear". Much of it is antithetical to Minecraft’s goals as a creative sandbox - so @astrazoey.bsky.social decided to overhaul it completely.

On a tangentally related note, I wish Mojang wasn't so reluctant to add QoL changes from the combat tests compared to the villager rebalances. We got better wandering traders and cartographer biome maps from the villager rebalances, but only knockback changes from the combat tests. #Minecraft

Mojang PLEASE let 1.22 be the Combat Drop so Java can get Loyalty Tridents returning from The Void.
Technically Combat doesn't need an entire update for things like that and stackable Potions, Bedrock Dual-wielding, etc. but I have a feeling it won't be until then.
