A blue dot in a sea of red in North Central California. My thoughts are posted on my feed for all to see. I block freely and often; I’m not here to see how many followers I can garner.
Thanks for posting. Though 4k trees sound like a lot, and I understand the alarm (because construction crews and equipment don’t tread lightly as they are driven by costs), there is a possibility that you are right. But I only believe that will only happen if the contractor is environmentally aware.

The “just the desert” areas of California have their own fragile eco systems. There really needs to be a balance; man destroys everything thinking the land is expansive and there for development rather than acknowledging the partnership we must have with the land in order to survive.

California has pluses and minuses. I’ve been here all my life. Expensive. When I retired I moved to a poorer area…something I could more easily afford. Lots of backward thinking here; it can be discouraging, but I prefer rural living. I wear a mask or go inside when my neighbors burn their garbage.

I believe your reasoning is correct…all of the above, plus less opportunities for training to begin with. In California, many colleges stopped offering that degree; hospitals hire travelers or nurses from the Philippines at a reduced expense.

I do remember the “head nurse”, replaced by the “charge” nurse who may just coordinate on the floor during a shift. At Oroville, there really doesn’t seem to be anyone overseeing; each nurse has a number of patients, period. The hospital is looking for a buyer; brand new hospital has never opened.

That’s a shame. One bad hospital in an area is enough. My client went to an outpatient service at Rideout, and I thought that department excellent. I’m sorry to hear their ER really isn’t a good option.
