Sometimes research requires buying tools to use as example why theory doesn't work as many assume it to work (the size of the i-cord is based on the distance of the nubbins, NOT on the size of the hole).

Locally 3D printed Roman dodecahedrons.

The III 7400 at the @museumderkulturen.bsky.social is very interesting knitted item, onced owned by young child.
Did the toddler do toddlery things and kicked and squarmed out of their sock, or is there a Medieval toddler spending their Eternity with cold foot?

Two weeks ago I got to meet her!

I was very envious when so many of you were posting about the #Neanderthalerin exhibition earlier in the year, but two weeks ago I happened to be close enough to drop in for a quick look! And it was deffinetly worth the walk!

Althought crafts are very much part of the material world, crafting in the other hand is very strongly immaterial.

What aspects of the immateriality are the important factors for you in crafting?

Reading a pattern is a rather crucial skill to obtain... 🤦‍♀️
And being able to estimate how much 2,5m is might help too...

Have you seen this sock?

It has been at the collection of the German hosiery online museum, which has been closed down. Do you know which museum the physical object might be?

Stories of crafting: "few" ball bands from the first ~20 years of my crafting history.
- 52 different manufacturers
- 16 handdyers
- 9 spinning fibre providers
I know these aren't all, I couldn't find any Red Heart bands or few others I can remember working with.

For once the idea to start new project didn't come at 2am!

Tubular brick stitch beading. Will see if it is going to be a bracelet or necklace (as intended), or nothing at all 🤷‍♀️

One (well, two) of the items lost at the looting of Sudanese National museum is this pair of nalbound socks from 9th-11th C Semna South, when most likely Christian woman was sent to Eternity with cozy feet. This is one of very few pairs with intarsia compound nalbinding pre-modern times.
