Indie cycle retailer by day (rarely post about bikes though), choral leader and composer by night. Wimbledon champion 2020 (trust me on that). He/Him. @HangingPuppet on the app that has no name.

Soubhiye, from Lebanese Arabic, is the enjoyment of a quiet moment of peace before everyone else is awake.

Gökotta is a Swedish term for waking up early to enjoy the birdsong.

For the rest of us, there is hurkle-durkling, from Scots: lingering in bed long after it’s time to get up.

Every Christmas I make time to watch this. Sadly they don't have the full concert on YT anymore, and the DVD of it doesn't work in the UK. Still...it gives me chills. A perfect concert. No notes. www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

My space heater just caught fire. FFS. I'm fine. I think the cord was damaged. Well, if it wasn't, it is now, seeing as it has literally burned through.

I had a song of mine sung at a Christmas memorial service today on the 5th anniversary of my first ever choral piece being premiered at the same venue. It has made me realise that death and Christmas have been the two driving forces of my musical creativity.

Word of the morning is ‘williwaw’ (19th century): a sudden violent squall or a toppling gust of wind.

Goes well with ‘thunderplump’: a sudden downpour that soaks you to the skin in seconds.

GP told me today - and it was her TONE more than the content that has riled me - that "60% of symptoms are unexplainable and we may never find out what is wrong with you". What am I supposed to do with that? 'Do no harm' is their pledge, yet I feel worse now than before this encounter!

What the world needs now is a musical based on 'The Martian' (2015). Who can make this happen please?

Just put together a short playlist of "Chill songs that remind me of friends and family". Oxytocin levels are rising. It's a sonic hug.

If you go to a Wicked showing and start singing they should be allowed to beat you with popcorn bags. Them babies came to hear Ariana Grande and Cynthia Eviro, not Pam from the community theater troupe. GROW UP.

Word of the Day is ‘gwenders’, from old Cornish dialect: a disagreeable tingling in the extremities (or no sensation at all) due to extreme cold.

Convinced we could end #FoodWaste if people just learned how to make pastry. Bake those scrappy veggies and fruit into a tart, folks! Delia's shortcrust recipe is what I use: 25g butter, 25g lard rubbed into 110g flour. Bring together with 2-3tbsp water until doughball cleans the bowl.
