This mansion pays less property tax than a modern duplex in downtown Ottawa (8k per duplex = 16k / year).

We desperately need mansions to pay their fair share in property taxes.

I think there is an opportunity for a conversation around what DCs should pay for.

I don't think that swimming pools are it. Water, hydro, sewer, costs to cover city bureaucracy, absolutely.

But roads, rec centres, pools, even libraries used by all residents, should be paid for by prop taxes.
