I teach on Halloween this year, and I was thinking of dressing up as the terrifying pink thing like I did last year, but I've got a new idea in mind:

I’ve taken up common placing as a research practice. I find it’s helping me by creating a much more tactile approach to the texts I consume. I’m starting to see my research as having a materiality that I am getting my hands dirty with, manipulating it like an artist does with any other material.

sometimes, I love researching contemporary spiritualist/ghost hunting technology and comparing it to historic forms. other times I'm reminded that 98% of this world is grifting.

YouTube's AI slop is a major MAJOR problem, but also kind of hilarious sometimes.

I forgot to crosspost here yesterday but if anyone is in the Cincinnati area and wants to learn more about the Terrifying Pink Thing, visit the Cincinnati Art Book Fair from 12-5 PM today at the Carnegie in Covington. www.cincinnatiartbookfair.com

for the purposes of [redacted opportunity] I've been working on an adaptation of what I call season 1 of lusciniahistoricalsociety.com. I had to take all the videos, blogs, and other media and distill them into an up to 30 page PDF. I am oddly proud of this fictional voicemail company and its logo.

Not to burn a bridge that doesn't exist with a local gallery, but for YEARS before even moving to Ohio I've been suspect of their practices. Calling a spade a spade; if you get chosen, they give you $5, that's how math works.

2 days in a row of print-related posts wow. Anyways working on syllabi, having my intermediate-level students submit semester-long inquiry proposals. Basically letting them create a conceptual fallback if their ideas run thin. So naturally I wanted to give them some examples.

blue layer printed fine on its own, which told me the plate wasn't the issue -- the ink was. So I got to do some minor chemistry! Oily ink repels inks that are less greasy. So I dried out the yellow ink with mag carb then greased up the blue with burnt plate oil.

Problem was, when I pulled the first print, the final blue layer was almost completely absent. The yellow layer underneath was printed on top of the pink / light blue layers fine, so I decided to proof the blue plate by itself.

I think about .2% of my followers are here for my #printmaking so I wanted to share an experience I had yesterday where my rolodex of knowledge came in handy. I was printing an edition of intaglio prints that combined 2 dry pre-printed layers, #silkscreen + #collagraph, with 2 fresh #etching plates

Happy birthday slender man! To celebrate here are some recent pics of me and my bro. He’s such a goof! Always makes me smile and purge black vile from my deepest crevices. Help me celebrate by tuning in to @slender4gender.bsky.social, a charity livestream benefiting Trans Lifeline starting today!

Sneak peak of my favorite footnote I've ever written. This paper, "The Haunting of Materiality", will be presented this week at the Foundations in Art: Theory + Education (FATE) conference in Washington DC. Redactions so it's not too spoiler heavy.

It is a beautiful day for a protest. No to SB1, no to anticipatory compliance, no to eliminating DEI practices. Cowardice is not leadership. Shame on UC.
