I'm a married, creative type and morgenmuffel. Writer, photographer, LGBTQ+ advocate, and proud mom. Pronouns: they/she. Owned by 3 bratty cats.
Turned 54 today. 🎂 Had every meal from a restaurant, indulged in retail therapy, & spent the day with my wife. Learned how to play Fluxx Cartoon Network edition. I got an axolotl & birthday bear from the wife & an Elmo cake; the kiddo got me pickle ketchup, a Figment shirt, & a Formula One Lego kit.

I will never complain about Sapphire (a very cute tuxedo cat) head butting my face to wake me up again. LOL!
That bowl one 😁😁

Clearly missing the mask, tail and spread-out toes. I do see lots of comedic value in the drawing though.

Wild imaginations. We can't get Americans of any sort to go into the industrial arts. HVAC, electricians, etc. are retiring and no one is stepping up to fill their shoes. It is easy work with decent pay but no one wants to do it. Same as factory work. We aren't a factory-driven country anymore.
Listen to the full quote and it’s completely incoherent nonsense.
Lutnick: "The army of millions and millions of human beings screwing in little screws to make iPhones -- that kind of thing is going to come to America."

I have no idea where this burst of creativity is coming from but I'm loving it. Here's a slightly longer story that won't happen but it would be nice if it could. www.myflashywords.com/2025/02/chas...

I finished this story around 4 a.m. It is a bit odd but then most of my writing is.

I wrote a new story today. Took about 15 minutes to get the first draft done then an hour or so to get it sensible, using all the prompt words, and coming in at 100 words. www.myflashywords.com/2025/02/here...

The Trump/Musk/et al. know that Americans are way too apathetic to really do anything to stop them. We've had a few uprisings over the years that caused change, a lot of it has been reversed, but nothing on the level we need now. We need a way to incontrovertibly say, "Nope, not today traitors."

I'm not sure if I'm excited or scared but I have mince pie coffee to make. Either way, I'm gonna be #doingscience.

I will bet anyone $100 that by the time President's Day arrives, the orange one will have dismissed the Congressional critters and most of the judges, and will be declaring himself the new supreme dickhead ... errr ... dictator of the US. Maybe he'll even betray Musk who will be much less useful.

You can love all equally all at the same time. I do not get this whole breaking down of who to love first. Just love. That's all there is to it. You really can't go wrong with it.
As Jesus famously said, Love thy neighbor a bit less than thyself
I mean yes, there is such a concept in Christianity. It appears quite notably in the letters of Paul, for instance, where it’s a concept he *relentlessly* argues against, and in the Gospel where it’s a concept Jesus very much repeatedly scorns. So it is technically in there!

My fever dreams used to have things like walking fish following me around. Now they feature a cast of scary people who want to do horrible things and there's no one able to stand up to the bullies. But it isn't even a dream. It is real life. I want my fever dreams back.

This is good for the kids too. Maybe have one flag on each bedroom door as well. There should also be a gas mask that goes on the bathroom doors to warn others of what you have left behind or a sign that says, "All clear" on one side and "Don't go in there for 35-40 minutes" on the other side.
We have a souvenir flag from Medieval Times that we keep inside our front door, and if one of us is having a bad day, we put it at half-staff when we get home, that way the other knows as soon as *they* get home and can adjust accordingly and this is a very good system indeed

I created a new-to-me word: tetrisized. It is the act of playing Tetris on any pile of things to get them to fit in the space available.

I love Seth Meyers and his dysfunctional family. And not just because he's from NH (though that is part of it). He's talented, funny, and is a hottie too.
He "got stuck" watching Seth Meyers? I guess Musk wouldn't let him have the remote.

At work today I got to move 2+ tons of crates around so they were no longer on the upper loading area using a hand pallet truck. The last one I moved weighed like 1.25 tons! It's amazing what you can do with the right tools. It was my first time and I was super proud of me for doing it on my own.

"They undertook many separate activities" is one thing that many miss. It is lovely to do things with your partner, but you also need to do things apart to prevent negative things. This was an major issue in past relationships and it's something that I am insisting on in my new marriage.
I read Jonathan Alter’s biography of Jimmy Carter a few years ago. It was simply amazing how he never stopped going 100% in all that life offered: learning to downhill skill at 62, climbing Kilimanjaro at 64, picking up snorkeling at 90.

RIP.

I may or may not have described kissing as being like making mud pies and squishing it between your hands. How romantic is that?! Thankfully my fiance found it as funny as I did. She really makes me so happy.
