Searching for hills in Singapore.
Flying back home today from Canberra and Virgin cancelled my flight due to too few people being on it for them to bother flying them to their destination, so I’m going to definitely answer the question “how much coffee can a man drink in 6 hours?”

Since I started watching F1 with my grandad in the Mansell/Senna period I have never supported Ferrari, but my god I want Lewis to bring that car home in first place this season.

This gets worse every time there’s a new development. I believe we do need lawful intercept capabilities but however good they are in terms of security the networks within which they are a part are extremely poorly secured, and it’s unclear how we fix this- regulation with big fines?
This Salt Typhoon stuff is insane. The entire FISA surveillance infrastructure has been completely owned by China and literally no part of our telecom infrastructure is safe to use without end-to-end encryption.

Final day as a teacher today- something that I started doing after being made redundant earlier this year. I’ve learned a lot, I hope the students have benefited, and I’m going to miss it in a lot of ways.

I appear to be a background check away from a great start to 2025. Fingers crossed that they don’t find out about the library fines.

My goal for 2025 is to run a marathon in the time that Martial law lasted in South Korea last night.

SC half marathon* tomorrow which here in Singapore means a 3am start to avoid the sun- so bedtime now (19:15). I predict sleep shall be a stranger but fingers crossed nonetheless
*May be 10km, terms and conditions apply

LinkedIn - is it me or has it suddenly become quite partisan? I’m seeing a lot of posts doing little more than signalling political affiliation, some more obfuscated than others but most fairly blunt.

I’m learning to sail here in Singapore and keep hearing “there are three types of sailor, those who have run aground, those who will run aground, and liars”, and now I have half a joke about “kedging your bets” in my head that I can’t complete

I make a huge mistake today. Maybe one day it will be a nice anecdote, but right now it feels like I'm the dumbest man alive.

(I had a call scheduled with one person, another rang me at that precise time and didn't identify themselves, so I assumed it was the person I was expecting).

I have a job interview tomorrow for a role that I am a great fit for in terms of experience, achievements and so on - yet I have The Fear that I'll immediately forget everything I've done over the last 20 years as I shake the interviewers hand.
