Let's try again with a direct statement so you can take a real position.

Compromising to reflect the position of the electorate is reasonable. Americans don't hate immigration, but they are fed up with an arcane system that doesn't do an effective job. I'm a member of CNL because I want to make the process better, not end it.

I'm a dues-paying member of that organization and I'll take your post below in good faith.

CNL has principles, not just policies, that continue whether they are in vogue or not. What can change is how we prioritize among them and the compromises we think are practical.
Also want to try and reverse some of my own radicalization. Hope to use Bluesky to return to having mutually open-minded conversations with libs - something that’s been missing from my life since at least 2020. I want to reacquaint myself with the best (and least inflammatory) arguments they have.

Ceding religion to the right is a mistake.

I don't really understand what you're trying to say with this reply.

I'll clarify at least that my value judgement about it is that think "non-integration" is a framing that I reject as irrelevant towards people's rights.

The last one is definitely more contentious, but I think an emboldened trans rights movement shifted from a desire for integration to one focused on acceptance of non-integration. In contrast, gay rights focused on inclusion into an existing prosocial norm (marriage).

I think it changed because "trans rights" crystalized around specific issues that people do not like: reducing parents' control over their children's healthcare, participation in high level competitive women's sports, and association with deviation from social norms that facilitate cohesion.

Nothing with a directional change, but certainly in magnitude. I did not realize opposition to immigration was so strong and widespread.

My theory is that people don't understand that when inflation goes down, the price level doesn't go down. "Inflation is back down to 2.5" but (almost) nothing is cheaper than in 2022.

What do you think changed in the past two years that caused this? I've got my own thoughts, of course, but curious about others.

Almost all climate regulations are bad except for carbon taxes (great) and sometimes clean energy subsidies. Let the market figure it out.

growth + innovation vs zero-sum + retvrn realignment

Powerful conclusion--that's exactly the section that caught my attention. Even if the precise diagnosis of the author is wrong, intentional focus on abundance and limiting rents is good for society overall.
