Restore the funding, you heartless bastards!

Steve Bartlett as a case study in how misinformation is popular & lucrative- clickbait -> more listeners -> more advertising revenue. It’s a sound business model if you don’t care about evidence or data.

Are we surprised?

In the old days, fizzy drinks came in glass bottles which could be returned for reuse at most shops for welcome pennies.

The wanton waste of resources has to stop #PlasticBottles #GlassBottles

We need an effective #DepositReturnScheme system and a shift in practice by sellers.

A question only asked of those trying to save our planet, not millionaire landowners trying to hoard wealth.

Farmers received record support in the budget. Pay what is still less than your fair share, take your tractors and piss off.

The problem is not the EU but rather the last Gov’t negotiated the first trade deal in history which actually involved walling the country off from a trading bloc made up of its nearest neighbours - making it harder both to sell your stuff & buy their stuff. Some might call that economic lunacy

UK Govt is unleashing finance industry for economic growth.

History:
2007-08 crash, Govt provided £133bn cash + £1,029bn guarantees for bailouts, £895bn QE.

Mid-1970s banking crash. Govt negotiated loan with IMF.

What next? How much finance does the UK need?

The government shouldn’t pin all of its hopes for economic growth on the finance industry
Such a strategy was tried in 1970s and came to grief in the mid-1970s secondary banking crash.

World GDP is $105 trillion.

Value of derivatives (clever bets on price of food, everything) is $667 trillion.

It hikes prices, enriches few speculators, produces nothing of value to society.

UK Govt thinks finance industry will deliver prosperity. Madness.
