It’s awful. As a consumer, what’s the point of me paying a monthly fee if I have to wade through the slop. It’s much worse for the artists, obviously!

To answer the question in the original: they’ll just assume it’s not talking about them and resume sleepwalking into autocratic subservience. Nothing will change and the democratic hierarchy will continue to hope to ride it out until the next election.

Trump has been braying about this since 2017. The rotting remains of institutional guardrails and a few surprisingly civic-minded officials managed to prevent it during his first term. Now there's nothing stopping him, and there's no pretending it wasn't what he was always shooting for.
