You can certainly make a lot of money calling the oil cycle as these are generally like warrants on oil prices unless you have supply thesis.

For these boats specifically you also are dependent on oil prices and have to watch out for obsolescence risk (boats needing to operate in deeper waters over time).

The thing is all these (things that float) have a very long period of making returns that don’t justify their build cost followed by a brief period where they make super profits which fills up the yards backlog. The trick is nailing the timing otherwise you can be sitting around for over a decade.

I can't express how much I hate oil services. But out of curiosity what is the age of TDW's fleet today?

Meant what are the hated parts? Don't see many. This not the 2020 oil puke. There are stocks here and there, especially smaller, but not many totally hated areas. The health insurers are probably there. Can make a case for the banks but in a credit cycle won't matter. Brazil was when u posted. 🤷♂️

The easy answer is to short that no-growth Illinois based carrier that everyone is giving credit for a turnaround.
