People have been using classical machine learning to detect cancer for a while. Exactly the same sort of algorithms used by Facebook to classify its users. Cambridge Analytica didn't need GenAI

If Windows wasn't so overbloated, the reduction in electricity use would correspond to a big drop in emissions.

Having said that, we now may have no choice to consider geoengineering (as well as decarbonisation) to avoid more catastrophic impacts from climate change.
