I knew that the coverage of Hunter Biden's art career was going to skew right but I did not expect this breakdown.

Okay, unrelated Dionysus news, I was looking around for some additional images of him and found this one where he looks like he got assigned the role of fruit for the school play about the food groups.

Fun fact: around this time eels were commonly eaten in Rome but also sometimes kept as pets. It's been written that Crassus would dress his pet eel up in jewelry ("just like some lovely maiden") and held a funeral for them when they died.

This lady is just chowing down on raw meat. Is it referencing sparagmos — the ritual of the cult of Dinoysus wherein adherents tore live animals apart with bare hands and consumed their flesh raw? Who knows! It's debatable whether that was actually a thing, but I think about it all the time anyway.

Look at that texture on the deer! The basket detail! Incredible how clear and well preserved it is!

Despite the fact this dude is keeping it tight for her with his 6 pack that goes all the way up

Whatever it is she does not look stoked about it

I'm dying to know what is going on between these two

Marantz's is a nuanced storyteller who avoids sane-washing the alt-right figures he follows. He also does a great job of demonstrating how the act of "trolling" is just cover for field testing abhorrent beliefs with the ultimate goal of moving the Overton window. Rating: 😀/😀 #booksky

Cool because typing “workout app” would have been way too hard

I finished this one a few weeks back! A B-list celeb memoir? Cult shit? It was basically written for me. #booksky

My husband said he found this in the elevator at his office and thought of me. Happy Valentines Day everyone.

Finished this one last night and it's my favorite read of the year so far. Check it out if you like gorgeous prose about Costco runs. #booksky

Read this on background for the podcast and was surprised I liked it, though it is unbelievably sad. I don't feel much differently about the Bidens than I did before, but I do understand crack addiction a lot better! Rating: 🙂/😀

I know basically nothing about Chinese history between WWI and the civil war, so I loved getting a glimpse of life in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Taiwan during this time. Sadly for me I found it hard to connect with either main character. Rating: 🙂/😀

Fascinating look at Dr. Blasey-Ford's life prior to testifying at Kavanaugh's confirmation and the effects that decision continues to have on her and her family to today. Rating it with happy emojis feels weird, but whatever: 😀/😀

Celeb memoirs are my guiltiest of pleasures so I was totally on board as soon as I heard on "How Did This Get Made" that Paul Sheer was putting one out. Rating: 😀/😀

Inspired by @hayleyotrope.bsky.social I want to get on Booksky! Here's what I read in Jan:

Was trying something new with this one — I don't usually do thrillers. Loved that it's set in PDX, and the plot was engaging. I did have a hard time with the MC who made some batshit decisions. Rating: 😐/😀

Can someone explain the point of adding a gen AI tool to articles on the Washington Post that summarizes the article your own newsroom wrote? And that still has to be reviewed by actual writers?

Doing background research on Hunter Biden for an upcoming ep and I’m obsessed with this review of his memoir on StoryGraph
