I think you have to go out and listen to people. Hear their concerns, find common ground, and, most importantly, find solutions.

I understand. But it can be done; I was once one of those AM radio-listening rural Nebraskans. But I saw the light. Others can too. Just have to send the right message and do the work.

Fair points, but I live here and I want to see someone in office who actually tries to help fix our issues in this state and country.

Yeah, I understand that some people are probably never voting Democrat out here. I just think (maybe hope) that if a Democrat actually took the time to listen and reach out that they might consider voting for someone who would actually try and make a difference in their lives.

Based on the last election, Democratic ideas can win, or at least compete, in the 3rd District. I think it's more about 1) having a candidate who will actually campaign and reach out to all 3rd District Nebraskans and 2) finding issues where we can find common ground.

Electricians, plumbers, etc. Pay for two years at one of our outstanding Nebraska community colleges in exchange for five years of service to the community. Then these young people build businesses there and stay on and increase town size and provide needed services.

The Democratic Party needs to give these people policies that can actually improve their lives instead of boogeymen to fear. That’s how we win back these red areas. That’s how we retake America. There is an opening if we’re only brave and inventive enough to take advantage of it.

I’ve lived in rural areas almost all my life. I know that the people here are good people who don’t actually hate those groups they’re conditioned to fear. But they continue to buy that because the GOP is the only party even bothering to sell them anything.

We all know the GOP is doing nothing to help in those areas. They get their votes by scaring them with immigrants, LGBTQ, and communism, and then do all they can to pass laws to help the rich and ignore the middle class.
