thanks for showing the rich history of @noaa.gov 🧪 Keep it up and running!!!!
ICYMI: NOAA is in the Trump administration's crosshairs, with some conservatives claiming it's some sort of crazy expansion of government power beyond what the founders wanted.

But NOAA is the descendant of an ocean science agency founded by Thomas Jefferson.

Tearing down federal funding in so many areas of science in the USA will have long-lasting effects. Read a great article linked below🧪
For decades, the US government has painstakingly kept American science #1 globally—and every facet of American life has improved because of it. The internet? Flu shot? Ozempic? All grew out of federally-funded research. Now all that's being dismantled. 1/ www.technologyreview.com/2025/02/21/1...

Women in leadership often face a double standard: assertiveness is "too aggressive," while showing empathy is "too soft."

In reality, women who lead with both compassion and determination challenge outdated stereotypes and pave the way for a more inclusive and effective leadership model.

🚨 New paper published in... Nature 😱

I never thought that I would write these words, but here is a Nature-paper that I contributed to. We found global loss in genetic diversity. But conservation strategies may maintain or increase genetic diversity.
