Made it without anything falling off, exploding or filling with water. 🎉

Our first night on the boat.

Just chilling on the deck

These three have started arriving as soon as I open the hatch in the morning.

Wasn't expecting to still be on when she was pulled out! Before this was running full beans to keep her straight against the flow of the Thames pushing against the stern. Like how I keep holding the tiller as if it will help in mid air 😂 #ukcanals

Whoever did this is an evil genius. Gets me every time.

Here's the "after" shot before the new flue gets fitted next weekend.
February 2, 2025 at 6:11 PM
New door glass fitted and roped (just had weird sealant before that was mostly gone). Put in situ, hooked up to the heating system and all parts put back in. Fixed down to the floor.
February 2, 2025 at 6:11 PM
Spigot, heat plate and bung fitted, roped and sealed with OB1. Boiler connections cleaned, sealed with OB1 and threads pasted with compound. Doors re-roped. Could be better but happy enough for now.
January 26, 2025 at 2:08 PM
Everything else fits perfectly. Tomorrow it will get a clean and fit this stuff properly. I have polish and paint but both require a curing process which I won't be able to do until it's back in the boat. So aim is just to have it all back together and as smooth as I can make it.
January 25, 2025 at 5:17 PM
Test fit of new parts looks good. Needs more rubbing down and more cleaning after that, but happy so far.
January 25, 2025 at 4:04 PM
Switched tack to trying to get the boiler out instead of chiseling the fire brick. It worked! Now I can get to rubbing down the inside 😷
January 25, 2025 at 12:14 PM
This little bugger back here is the real pain, just won't come out. Didn't want to remove the boiler if I could avoid it but looks like it might have to come out just to loosen pressure in the remains of the fire brick
January 25, 2025 at 11:45 AM
Let this serve as a sort of "before" shit from today
January 25, 2025 at 11:45 AM
It's now in my office, dismantled, glass removed and starting the work of cleaning it up properly. This fire brick is wedged against the back boiler and won't budge so that will have to be chiselled out carefully so the boiler isn't damaged.
January 23, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Fire bricks are shot, heat plate at the back has 2 lugs missing and a gap, and this punch out is partially pushed out already. No rope on the heat plate or the old spigot either.
January 23, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Next is the refurbishment of the stove itself. You can see how much crap is in it and the state of the old flue.
January 23, 2025 at 12:38 AM
I hate tiling 😂 but it's a small space and the new ones went up pretty quick. Miscalculated how many I needed so had to do it in two goes.
January 23, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Getting the old tiles off was a chore. They were glued down and we didn't know if the backer board was asbestos or not. Treated it like it was and had it tested, but luckily it wasn't.
January 23, 2025 at 12:38 AM
Current project is the stove. The flue isn't attached to the roof collar any more, the spigot is loose and cracked, it's full up inside and we don't like the tiles 😂

Now she sings a lot sweeter. Plenty more to do on the engine; oil pressure gauge is dead, check valve clearances, coolant gasket replacement....
January 20, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Then the filters, oil and air filters both just get a wash. Both fuel filters were pretty gunked up and had a lot of water in them.
January 20, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Pumped out all the oil, took 3 hours! There's some crazy sump on this, similar to those used on these engines when fitted in a crane. Certainly won't be a yearly job when 30L came out.
