Day before we were going to set off on our first long trip and the shower pump has failed.... No showers for the first few days whilst we get a replacement delivered somewhere on our route 👃

Going on first pleasure cruise since we bought the boat in November. Checked oil, topped up coolant, cleared plastic bags off propellor, topped up water tank.... What super obvious thing have I forgotten? 🤔

These three have started arriving as soon as I open the hatch in the morning.

Narrowboat boat pro tip: Run your engine for an hour to get it nicely up to temp just before you remember you need to do some highly physical work in the engine room. 🥵

🤦‍♂️

Wasn't expecting to still be on when she was pulled out! Before this was running full beans to keep her straight against the flow of the Thames pushing against the stern. Like how I keep holding the tiller as if it will help in mid air 😂 #ukcanals

Whoever did this is an evil genius. Gets me every time.

The thing I've found with owning a narrowboat that needs work is whilst there's always another job to do and you want to get it all done so you can enjoy your boat, as soon as I get down there I slow down. I spend time having a cup of tea on the deck and watching the water, enjoying the surroundings

Current project is the stove. The flue isn't attached to the roof collar any more, the spigot is loose and cracked, it's full up inside and we don't like the tiles 😂

First job when she was safely home was to service the Gardner 3LW. We were told it was from 1935 but the oldest bit we've been able to identify (the flywheel) is from 1943.

This is KellyAnn, our narrowboat. Built by Paul Barber in 1998 with a 1935 Gardner bus engine to power her along the waterways ♥️

She's been on the River Wey her whole life.
