Every game we hear in the build up how it’s going to be a 5-3…no, a 6-2…wow, it’s a 7-1. Good on Gregor Townsend for refusing to pander to that ‘casual’ rugby flock by continuously making it utterly academic and leaving test match players sat on the bench doing nothing. Well done, Toonie! 👏👏

Effin’ hell.

Seen a lot of chat about Pumas bench being strong, while Sco’s bench apparently weak. Sorry, not buying it. Sco now have enough players available that their bench can bring level required - even accounting for bad luck of Brown’s early HIA withdrawal. But squad & team selection far too ‘Toonie bad’.

Just to be clear, I don’t think a TMO check would have 100% proven Oviedo gouged Russell. Especially not that TMO, at least. But given that TMO was routinely able to identify incidents that went Arg’s way, it’s a bit much for him not to draw to the attention of the referee to fingers clawing eyes.

The Argentina coach was pissed and did something about it 5 subs was a big call. Townsend sat on his hands in denial. When the coach is scared to react that's when they have to go

I'm not even shocked which is the worst part. Just saw it coming like a train in the night.

Special mention to the Argentina Eight, Oviedo. Who was not only somehow miraculously adjudged to have been able to catch one of the fastest players on the pitch, with a two metre head start. But also avoided a full red card on 40m mark for attempting to gouge Russell after he had ripped clean ball.

Big fan of Finn Russell. But even accounting for Steyn running a bad overs line, he still forced that & it probably shifted the game from a four score coast, to a 14 point swing, a man in the bin, and a Pumas fight back. That the rest of the team imploded alongside him was just icing on the cake.

Appreciate any new defensive system takes time. But I have some prominent early doubts about our apparent new reliance upon tacklers making late decisions on an inside shoulder. With a player of genuine pace, or a disguised double on the same line, we’re wide open.
Finn with one shocking decision turned that match in Pumas favor. Up 21 points in their 22, you cannot do something that risky.

OFC doesn't excuse Scotland falling to pieces.

Scotland's 22 defense is a mess. No jacklers is killing this team.

How many times have Sco cruised clear & dominated their opponents - only to then decide they’ve had enough of playing for today and watched as their opponent fought back to a win…? I’ve lost count. It’s awful stuff and while players carry some blame, Toonie has literally NEVER solved that problem.

Also, as an aside, that TMO appears to have the best eyesight in the world…🙄

Also, rather expected too. For all the hype about Arg, Sco have routinely turned them over. Sco are the better team. But this has been Scotland taking a shotgun to their own feet. Awful stuff - and cannot be explained away as ‘we’ll take the learnings”. That’s simply not good enough.
What a terrible autumn this has been

lol.

If you’re going to that TMO surely there’s only one outcome.
November 16, 2025 at 4:55 PM
What’s most disappointing is that they were in total control. Argentina were so short of options they were even having to kick from their opponents 22. Scotland were about two metres from a four score sweep & probably coasting home. Terribly soft effort since.

So, so poor.
November 16, 2025 at 4:48 PM
Not keen on leaving anything else to that TMO tbh. Feels a bit dodgy.
November 16, 2025 at 4:36 PM
Fourteen point swing off an unnecessary offload - and its cost a man too. Poor stuff.
November 16, 2025 at 4:35 PM
That TMO…
November 16, 2025 at 4:34 PM
Just no reason for it. Literally none.
November 16, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Enter the Duhan.
Fully expect Arg bench to affect this game, as we'll have used ours up by half time

Rear drift defender behind the line caught out badly by that double pinch. Good scramble though.
November 16, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Could do with Hutch, Sione & Kinghorn fully waking up here. Carreras will look to counter attack & look for doglegs.
November 16, 2025 at 4:21 PM
TMO determined to get a card there. WTF?
