How can Danielle Smith claim to barely know the man at the center of the CorruptCare scandal when she's had dinner at his house, met with him multiple times, and her closest advisors include five members of his family?

A few companies have made a great deal of money under the Alberta Recovery Model and there's little to show that they have actually delivered on the outcomes Albertans expect. Are people's health outcomes better off with a two-tier, American-style healthcare? The answer is almost always NO.

When I was signing the recall petition on Saturday, a guy with an I love O&G sticker on his truck pulled up, got out and signed the petition too

I really hope Smith has lost the O&G workers

Danielle Smith tried to sell her federal-Alberta energy deal to the UCP convention crowd: tepid applause.
She told them that this proved Canada can work well for Alberta’s interests: loud boos.

This ain’t a base that wants Smith to work with a Liberal PM on a better industrial carbon tax.

It's worth remembering what actually happened here.

Alberta implemented a climate plan. Ottawa followed suit. The federal courts overturned TMX's approval and...the Alberta NDP pulled the province out of the federal climate plan.

Danielle Smith uses notwithstanding clause to declare herself premier of B.C.
Prime Minister Mark Carney disagrees with the concept of a premier of one province unilaterally taking over a different province but his hands are tied by his unwillingness to do anything about it.

Since 1971 Alberta has had a conservative government, except for 4 years of NDP (2015 - 2019)

But ask any UCP supporter and they will tell you that all the problems we face today are down to the NDP

How crazy is that!!!

That certain provincial premiers invoke the notwithstanding clause of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms as a tool to ram through legislation that would otherwise be unconstitutional speaks volumes about their contempt for democracy. That the news media normalizes this is unacceptable.

Once again, folks: any deal between Alberta and Ottawa that requires a) BC's approval, and b) significant support from coastal First Nations is a deal for a pipeline that will never happen.

If Carney can get Smith to agree to ratchet up industrial carbon pricing in exchange? That feels like a win.
