Skunk cabbage is such a great early spring plant. It greens up otherwise dormant-looking areas. It needs shallow wet woods to thrive.

I’m all about native plants that benefit wildlife at my house, but there is room for traditional non-invasive favorites. These snowdrops are up now!

According to one non-native plant catalog, the mountain mint is the perennial plant of the year! This is a native to my area and is a favorite of bees and wasps. I highly recommend putting it in your garden! Just be sure to put it somewhere where it can spread.

The main focus of my garden is native plants for wildlife, but throwing in zinnias adds lovely color and hummingbirds and butterflies love them. I found these at my local feed store this week!
