I took a long time to figure out that I was ace. One thing I looked back on to help me realize it was how I never seemed to understand when other guys described celebrity women as hot, or even the concept of the hall pass celebrity.

A while ago I took the strategy of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" and started to use the phrase every time we have the numbers six and seven in math class or whatever. (I doubt anything could make it uncooler than a teacher using it.)

It may not be the same for me just because I'm a cis dude. I find shaving a bother, but that's about it. I assume the reason my friend went ahead with it despite the pain was that a beard caused dysphoria for her or something, and yeah, I get why one would do that.

A trans friend of mine said it wasn’t a lot of fun. Her description actually made shaving sound good to me, which is saying a good deal.

The one contrast I would note is that in the U.S., it seems like the main problem is aging infrastructure and not having the political will to replace it, whereas a lot of the stuff collapsing in China is still relatively new but was never of good quality. At least I think that’s true.

Hah even as a cis guy I can get that one. Shaving’s a pain in the ass and a beard just isn’t my thing.
