The world needs a just food system, and the ocean can play a vital role if we:

🐟rebuild fish populations
🎣catch fish to feed people (not other fish)
🌊safeguard the ocean, so it can continue to produce food

ECA's audit was requested by some MEPs; no cases of wrongdoing by NGOs were found.
Oceana regrets the fabrication of scandals driven by ideological or business interests. A healthy democracy needs civil society to counterbalance corporate lobbies. #StopAttackingNGOs

The EU is handing out billions of euros to NGOs each year without properly monitoring how the money is spent — or whether it's even going to genuine organizations, a damning European Court of Auditors report found.
Brussels must overhaul ‘opaque’ funding of NGOs, say auditors
The damning report will give ammunition to conservative lawmakers who want to prevent NGOs from using EU money to lobby.

Thanks to MEPs who defended ocean protection at the @Europarl_EN's today. Ocean degradation undermines EU self-sufficiency in a challenging geopolitical environment. We need a bold #EUOceanPact!

🆕 analysis by marine NGOs shows that many EU 🇪🇺 countries are failing to stop destructive fishing in their #MPAs.

We call on @ec.europa.eu to evaluate the #MarineActionPlan & establish new rules to strengthen the protection of EU seas.

Sometimes we all need a place to recharge—a spot to go when things don’t go as planned, to unwind after a long day, or to spend time with loved ones. For many, that place is the ocean.

Thanks to Robert Lewandoski for helping us to keep it healthy 🌊💙
