The stupid thing is both Council areas had development corporations (albeit with limited scope) - shut down by the Tories under austerity.

Based on the current population, for 2025/2026 these two councils are ‘short’ £173m in funding from central government (on top of cumulative ‘deficit’ 2011-2024 of £1.2bn that they will never recover).

The growth rate (twice national average) in Northamptonshire rivals new towns (like Milton Keynes) - without dedicated infrastructure financing it is a structural crisis and financial unsustainable for both local councils.

25% population growth in 14 years (from 2011 to 2025) in areas like North and West Northamptonshire is unprecedented in modern UK local government history without the backing of a development corporation or equivalent ring-fenced growth funding including dedicated infrastructure financing!

Get to the train early and it’s running 20minutes late (glad I accounted for potentially delayed DB service when I booked).

The same can’t be said of the T3 version

In my experience:
• there are things that won’t work
• and things that didn’t work because old chemists didn’t understand why they didn’t work and/or the technology has developed so they now will
Wisdom is to know the difference

No problem with standard abbreviation. The issue is using non-standard ambiguous abbreviation that is a safety risk (in my career, I’ve seen enough incidents and near misses caused by unambiguous abbreviations).
MeCN is unambiguous (albeit legacy), CH3CN is preferred (IUPAC blue book).

For most analytical derivatization, I’d rather take the time to validate a methyl iodide based method.

In this case the reference book was written before the toxicity was understood…
