Americans will never understand stepping on one of these barefoot.
After 5mins being struck dumb by pain (even without breaking skin), I am now able to speak.

My fungal ID skills aren’t up to confirming whether my boletes are edible varieties (popular with the mice or squirrels)

The same can’t be said of the T3 version

I think the proportions on this may actually be an improvement on the original

On my way to install a Caloratherm for a customer who is observing a significant difference in temperature gradient on scale up from analytical to semi-prep for mRNA vaccines. Trialling it is the only sure-fire
way to find out if the technology can solve the problem!

Somebody will do a find and replace all the full stops with middle dots for the entire www•gov•uk website.

What’s your best mis-labelled chemical from a supplier? I’ve had several in my career, including acetonitrile in a bottle labelled pyridine (at least better than the other way around).

The original plan was to switch to straw, but the first test firings sand blasted the power station with superheated microcrystalline silica. Wood pellets were the only answer available (at the time). Dried sewage cake/AD sludge pellets (with delivery by rail) could offer a more sustainable future?

In Berlin this week and unusually for a business trip I’ve had some time for sightseeing. Having grown up with BBC news regularly reporting from Checkpoint Charlie, an in person visit brought home the enormity of an insignificant kiosk in global geopolitics.

Observation: clinical diagnostic tests may be fit for purpose for ongoing disease state monitoring, but wholly inadequate (lack specificity & sensitivity) for initial diagnosis. National regulators (NICE) are ‘blind’ to the difference when setting guidelines (against which NAB’s assess conformity).

It always saddens me that when travelling to Europe or further afield, the choice of fruit and vegetables is much more colourful and flavourful. There’s a whole rainbow of tomato and kiwi fruit!

Had a spare ten minutes to investigate what turned out to be a minor issue with the dual head PAL-xt. Can now proceed with full test and refurb of the system.

Currently putting (more affordable) GC-MS tool kits together for our service and demo instruments.

Ever wondered how to do headspace or SPME sampling of foods, or consumer products (in-product fragrances)? Well, you can use our septum jars and custom racks for your PAL3! In the past I’ve also done SPME on whole tomatoes in custom 250mL septum jars and racks so a customer can study fruit ripening.
