After a show and tell with my glucose monitor and insulin pump, explaining why I needed them to be careful with my sensitive spots, I asked a couple kids what they were getting up to for Christmas this year. An 8-year old looked me in the eyes and said, “Kicking you. In your sensitive spots.” 😳

Revisited The Fall of the House of Usher yesterday. It might be my all-time favourite show. I love how the story unfolds; the creeping dread build up, and final reveal. I also love how intentional the show is about power structures and the consequences of holding up a system that is rotten.

Punishment does not create safety. Systems built on control, surveillance, and punishment will always harm women, queer people, disabled people, Indigenous people, and racialized communities the most.
