I'm happy that this guy has found a new home! I love blackbirds of all kinds because they're smart and they hold a grudge but they can also be extremely kind and they form strong (almost cultural) groups.

I hope Halloween was cool and spooky and fun!

Sometimes I get to a point in a piece where I know more needs to be done but I really love what's currently on the canvas. In case this one goes terribly wrong, I'll at least have a record of this one in this really raw, jagged state.

I did a sketch course this week that really helped me make some breakthroughs. I'm working hard to get a bunch of stuff done in time for a show in October, but this time really helped me see things in a new way.

I'm doing intake for a new doctor and here are some of my language options. Old English??? Elamite? (Stopped existing 2400 years ago) ancient Egyptian? "Yes doctor. I alligator asp eyeball cat guy walking like an Egyptian again" 😄😄

My wife had an idea to carve Irish designs on these pavers and put them up as little standing stones in our gardens. I carved them and filled the carving with some diluted ink to make them stand out a little more.

I think they turned out pretty cool!

I painted this piece a while ago and I'm proud of it, but it also just isn't demonstrative of who I am anymore. I've learned a ton since this and I've got to make space. I felt good painting over it and now I feel a little weird. Oh well--it's just canvas.

This paragraph by @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social in "1983" is both hilarious and evocative. The book is great. It's like Stephen Spielberg reworked the first part of the Deer Hunter.
The tip smelt bad, but not vastly worse than most areas directly beyond the tip. The new brightness we had embraced was not generally reflected in the air we breathed. Cars belched past us and left us temporarily invisible to our companions. We were good at holding our breath while under water because we'd had plenty of practice in public toilets. The odour of pet food made no attempt to disguise the unfortunate journey that had led it to our dog's or cat's dish. The fart of the boy who sat next to you in Maths could put you into a brief coma. Silent had never been more violent. The aggregate smell of the places where we played and walked was a threat and an enigma, always with us.
