Born in Yorkshire. Live in Camden. Love both. Passionately & ambitiously creating a more sustainable people focussed world alongside geeking out on #FamilyHistory. Everything I say or do is personal.
I've not been ignoring #FamilyHistory though. I've been busy working out the family trees of our #Lionesses champions. Here's Lucy Bronze's English side www.wikitree.com/wiki/Bronze-6

The Chloe Kelly penalty. Wow my heart stopped. Twice. Michelle Agyemang too. #Lionesses you do us proud. #WEuro25

Missing #AncestryHour for a reason! Have been working on family trees for the #Lionesses.

In the places I hang out it has become quite normal for period products to be available, free of charge, in toilets. This is brilliant of course, but reflects my circle. Which is why I loved that at #WEURO25 they also had them out and proud with a view of the stadium. #LoveLionesses. #Lionesses

And last starter message from me. I've been scratching my head over a couple of baptisms in 1740 and 1741, both of which are before the parents married later in 1741, but seem to carry the father's surname, who is listed on the records. #AncestryHour 1/2

Couple of other things. I've been slowly reading Swaledale and Wharfedale Remembered, which contains short bios of all those from the area who died in WWI and WW2. There is a #Wellock in there, but so far no others who are jumping out as related. #AncestryHour 1/2

Mostly this week has been finishing assignments for @pharostutors.bsky.social recording the poor course. I got decidedly distracted by the almshouses at #Leathley, where I used to live. This is the view from the Almshouses there. Not normally so many cars, but there was a wedding.... #AncestryHour

And then back a generation, in my Nana's own autograph book, I have her father and maternal grandfather. It's a family tree of autograph books! #FamilyHistory #Genealogy.

Not just our ancestors. This is what my Grandpy wrote in my own autograph book. #FamilyHistory #Genealogy

Just about finished reading "When Gossips Meet" which my lovely Mum found for me. It's a little earlier than most of us can take our ancestors back, but does demonstrate how women were really active in civil society and records do exist, just a little harder to find. #AncestryHour.

Oh, very definitely. They are my main focus. "Wid Swinden", my 7xG Grandmother had just three works "Wid Swinden Buried", but then the wonderful @genealogystoriesuk.bsky.social wrote a whole poem natashahouseman.co.uk/wid-swinden-... #AncestryHour, creating a whole new set of stories.

So I figured I have an excuse now to share photos of the three of them. My Uncle Richard was 22, my husband Paul was 30 and my Dad, George Christopher otherwise known as Bob was 34. Handsome chaps all three 😉 #GenHour

It gets worse. My husband and father also died in RTAs. A long time ago. But writing up my Uncle's profile led me to a conversation with my Mum about whether he was actually engaged at the time (likely privately and informally). #GenHour 1/2

The glorious weather also found me hanging out in a local cemetery this afternoon adding photos and other detail to #FindAGrave. A perfect hobby for a sunshiney day in May. #GenHour

For thirty years after her husband died in 1892, Amelia headed up and ran the family farm in Haverah Park. She finally sold up and moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in Harrogate in 1921, thus just missing out on being able to vote for the first time in 1922. #GenHour 2/2

Good evening #GenHour. I voted in #Harrogate today for the first time. And also had my first peek into the beautiful Wesleyan chapel. Got me to thinking about my GG Grandmother Amelia (Bradbury) #Houseman (1848 - 1931). natashahouseman.co.uk/are-we-a-pol... 1/2

How about my "furry" lion? So well loved it no longer has fur. Mum handed it to me just a few weeks ago having found it in a drawer, safely stored. I still haven't managed to put it in the bin. Maybe this prompt to take a photo of it, will finally allow him to be put to rest! #AncestryHour

Ha. I never was one of those children who dreamed of owning my own pony - was much happier with chickens. And for Grandpy they were a reminder of the working horses. #AncestryHour.

Took me a while to find this old blog "preserving through use" natashahouseman.co.uk/preserving-t... which is my general approach. #AncestryHour - it creates everyday joy for me.

I finally connected them as 2nd cousins of my G Grandmother and happy to report that they all seemed to live long lives despite being described as "in a horrible condition of neglect, almost as bad as those other children whom the Board would not allow their parents to have" #AncestryHour 2/2

This is so the story of my kitchen utensils. Almost everyone has a story either mine or that of a relative or friend. Grandpy's toffee crunch tin was one of the more sought after pieces in my family. What about other #AncestryHour folks?

Just listened to episode 2 on my way home. This photo of my G Grandad Jesse Houseman and cow doesn't quite meet the #AbsoluteUnit bulk, but suspect it might have been prizewinning for it's time. #AncestryHour

So I flip flop. I landed on creating scrawled versions (see my "Uncle Charlie", husband of my GG Aunt). It at least means I can recognise photos I've uploaded if they pop up elsewhere. And I include a note asking people to get in touch if they want the full unmarked photo #AncestryHour 2/4

I've tried all sorts of search strategies and ordered several certificates, but can still only identify nine. I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that it might have been stillborn, but realise that could be just hopeful thinking. #AncestryHour 2/2

The workhouse, prison and police and courthouse museums really helped place my ancestors histories in context. Although am very glad few got in trouble. #AncestryHour #Ripon
