Offerings on the Eternal Day Natalie Korman Radiant one, I see sheaves of sunlight reaped from the sowing of raindrops. One bowl for you is poured into the soft, open earth; one branch is set ablaze so that you may turn your splendid head towards us. I tell the others that maybe you will coalesce into a long shadow that we kneel into, or maybe you will weave into a light breeze that brushes our cheeks. Maybe you will stretch out into a larkspur-studded meadow, and loll like a satisfied lover, as the raven creaks and the field mouse finds his way, having eaten and drunk our gifts and listened to our longings, those pregnant notes, keeper of music, spoken and sung toward you. Maybe you, healer, will press your warm fingers to our scalps brushed with blood, smooth our necks and our backs, ridged with salt and soil, bringing out the bright birth of sound existence that only you are destined to give.
